Aircraft Painter Apprentice

Location: Bagotville, Quebec
Job Type: 1 year temporary, part-time

  • Perform cleaning, prep, masking, prime, paint and strip aircraft, aircraft parts, install decals, stencils and components
  • Polishes and waxes finished surfaces by cutting and buffing finished surfaces
  • Familiar with and have operational knowledge of department tools   
  • Performs moderately complex to complex filling operations related to the cosmetic appearance of the part being worked
  • Removes excess material and prepares the surface for finishing
  • Regulates controls on equipment to cure and dry paint or other coatings
  • Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent
  • Ensure that the work is performed according to the quality standards, policies and procedures of the Company and the applicable regulations
  • Ensure that the aircraft documentation is complete and in line with the company standards
  • Ensure that the workplace is safe and clean at all times
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

You will have the following responsibilities in order to comply with the company's Occupational Health and Safety program:
  • Working in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety acts and regulations
  • Following safe work practices and procedures and using safeguards and personal protective equipment
  • Reporting hazards (such as unsafe situations and activities) to their supervisor immediately.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

  • Transport Canada accredited program or an approved course
  • 0-2 years of experience in painting including, prep work, masking, priming, striping and applying decals and stencils
  • Knowledgeable of paints, chemicals and methods of applying them
  • Able to work in confined spaces and unusual positions
  • Good adaptability, organizational skills, attention to detail, sense of analysis
  • Ability to perform all work in support of our Corporate Values of Safety, Teamwork, Focus and Integrity
  • Demonstrates strong and visible support of our values
  • Ability to work with others and independently, with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a team and in a dynamic environment where activities unfold rapidly
  • Experience on a commercial or military aircraft
  • Air force experience, an asset
  • International travel may also be required in this role
  • Ability to obtain a “Level 2” security clearance with the Canadian Government and the ability to gain access to the Canadian Controlled Goods Program
